Action at the rakeless high-stakes tables has been even crazier than you’d imagine in CoinPoker’s debut series.

Being ultra-aggro at the nosebleed stakes may not fit into the holiday spirit, but that’s exactly what the CoinPoker Cash Game World Championship (CGWC) is delivering all month.

The CGWC launched on Dec. 1 and runs 24 hours a day until shortly after Christmas. Ultimately, the overall winner will walk away with a ton of cash, a $50,000 Rolex, and perhaps more importantly, the bragging rights of being crowned CoinPoker’s Best Cash Game Player.

The stakes are $50-100 – $100-$200 with a 100 big blind minimum and no rake or ante, and all players must join one table with the “show hole cards” feature activated. It’s a railbird’s dream, and a throwback to the golden age of high-stakes Full Tilt cash games.

But unlike those games, you don’t have to randomly hang around the lobby praying for a big name to pop up at the tables.

CoinPoker is livestreaming the event with commentary from the likes of Kakitee and high-stakes reg Deki. It’s cards-down action, obviously, but the “show hole cards” feature gives viewers what they want.

Who’s Playing?

Ahead of the launch, a number of recognizable stars were confirmed to be taking part, including:

  • LLinusLL0ve – legendary Swiss pro Linus Loeliger is considered by many to be the best online poker player in the world when it comes to NLHE cash
  • Seallama – a frequent foe of Linus, regularly battling heads up and shorthanded against the best regs. An elusive mystery player from the USA
  • DavyJones – another member of the ‘willing to battle anyone’ club, with impressive results this year and one of the favorites to win the CGWC title
  • Dejan Kaladjurdjevic – the young man from Montenegro who strung together several million-dollar cashes in a row, he has no fear and took on the highest-stakes cash games on GG and high roller events at Triton
  • Brownballa – known for his live play on the Hustler’s Casino high-stakes cash game streams
  • FourSixFour – PokerStars reg Darrell Goh is happy to play almost anyone at 6-Max or HU, battling for the lobbies at $25/$50 and higher
  • Kevin Paque – the Dutch poker pro has over $3 million in live tournament earnings and is regularly found batting the best regs heads up for any stakes
  • Dudd1 – German pro Tobias Duthweiler has over $4 million in earnings and is one of the most-feared high stakes regs
  • PR0DIGY – the young British pro Owen Messere has made a meteoric rise through the stakes, foregoing soft games to instead test himself battling all comers in multiple formats with a unique playing style

Tony G Quickly Gets Stacked

Within minutes of the first stream going live, poker legend Tony G was forced into his first $20k rebuy after his pocket sevens hit an inferior full house against the pocket nines of ‘AbsoluteTopUp,’ the head coach over at Poker With Riske.

This was all while the tech guys were still fiddling with the mics, with the commentary team missing most of the action. Beautiful chaos.

Swiss pro Linus Loeliger (‘LLinusLL0ve’), a man many believe is currently the best online player around, locked horns with friend Chris Nguyen (‘ChrisNguyen’) in a pot which typifies the kind of crazy action this event is attracting.

In a four-bet pot, the two got into a raising battle which saw Loeinger shove turn with queen-high and Nguyen call off with ace-high no draw on a super-wet board. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Frequent Action

The action has been going pretty much non-stop, fueled by the increased viewership and CGWC rules (where else can you play high stakes with zero rake?). Loeliger won just over $20k against Owen Messere, playing as PR0DIGY, in a straight-over-straight pot. But he also lost a nearly identical amount with QHeart Suit 10Heart Suit against the AClub Suit 10Club Suit of Doblou on a ten-high board.

Before long, ‘SeaLlama’ joined the action. The mysterious online crusher is assumed by many to be Keir Sullivan, a regular at the Bike who memorably hero-called with 7-2 against Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates for a pot of more than $83,000 back in July 2023, before dancing around the table. But to date, there’s still no full confirmation that it’s really him.

One thing’s for sure, though – he has a long-standing rivalry with Loeliger, and the two sitting down opposite each other in such an action-packed format had spectators salivating.

Current Leaders

It’s no surprise that Loeliger is currently in the lead, topping the leaderboard with nearly $150,000 in rake-free profit. That’s more than double that of second-place ‘SirLoseAlot9’, but there’s a hell of a lot of time left.

‘iWasOnly17’ will be hoping that’s true as well, as they’re currently propping up the leaderboard with a loss of more than $76,000.

How To Watch

You can tune into CGWC action in several ways:

If it’s your first time over at CoinPoker, you’ll see a non-standard currency symbol at the tables. This is for Tether (USDT), which has a 1:1 tie to the value of USD. So, if you see a ₮10,000 pot, it’s effectively a $10,000 pot.
