“Barstool’s Alleged Responsible Gaming Violation Hearing Cancelled”,

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has cancelled a scheduled hearing on Tuesday related to Barstool Sportsbook. The suspension of the hearing followed concerns over the use of “Can’t Lose Parlay” phrase used in the state as part of the sports betting messaging. Massachusetts has responsible gaming procedures in place to prevent the use of misleading language in sports betting ads or messages. The MGC has not held any such meetings specifically focused on responsible gaming violations. In February, Barstool was founded by PENN Entertainment, which paid a $250,000 fine to Ohio for promoting its sportsbook app near the University of Toledo, breaching Ohio’s sports gaming laws. The company and its founder, David Portnoy, have faced a lot of criticism over the years related to sexual assault accusations, accountability toward responsible gambling, and tax issues.
