Cordina reclaims IBF world title in dramatic split decision win against Rakhimov.,

Joe Cordina reclaimed his IBF super-featherweight world title in a thrilling split decision win over Shavkat Rakhimov. The Welsh fighter was stripped of his belt in October when it was revealed that he needed hand surgery after breaking it in sparring for his first defence. However, he came back stronger and defeated Rakhimov with a perfect blend of skill and savagery, winning with cards of 111-116, 115-112 & 114-113 in a highly competitive fight.

Cordina displayed fast and accurate hands, delivering a string of right hands that caused damage to Rakhimov’s left eye. The southpaw champion, on the other hand, landed repeatedly with his heavy left hand. In the second, Cordina dropped Rakhimov with a left hook, but the visitor beat the count and survived the round.

In the seventh, Cordina transformed into a Mexican gunslinger, throwing bombs in the pocket. His scarred right hand that had undergone two operations landed again in the eighth, buzzing the wilting visitor.

Despite a closely fought championship clash, Cordina was showboating and celebrating in the final sessions, securing his second coronation. The fight demonstrated his tenacity and skill, making him a force to be reckoned with in the boxing world.
