South Dakota gaming panel OKs new casino operator

SGMSD, LLC has received the required South Dakota licenses to purchase the Franklin Hotel and Silverado gambling complex in Deadwood. The South Dakota Commission on Gaming held a special teleconference meeting on Monday to approve operator and retail licenses for SGMSD, as well as approve Jon Grant Lincoln as key licensee. Lincoln is CEO for Strategic Gaming Management, a Missoula-based business, and a consultant for ZenSports, a phone-betting app company based in West Hollywood. Strategic Gaming Management has acted as the slot route operator for ZenSports’ agreements with casinos in Lovelock and Reno. Lincoln owns 99% of SGMSD, while Charlie Skinner owns 1%. As a licensee, SGMSD must submit all proposed gaming contracts to the commission for approval. The meeting lasted less than 10 minutes, and Lincoln praised the commission staff’s handling of the background investigation, adding that he wished to meet with the commission members on an individual basis.
